Minister's speech

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Colleagues in the agricultural sector, our partners in national and international institutions.
I am pleased to launch today the new web page of the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture in its renewed form. This includes technological modernization, keeping pace with modern media, and digitizing agricultural services, as well as, reflects a clear vision, a firm political will, and an institutional approach based on transparency, professionalism, and effective communication with our people and partners.

The Ministry of Agriculture is steadily moving towards building a resilient national agricultural sector, capable of protecting the land, enhancing food and water security, supporting the national economy, and ensuring the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their lands. The agricultural sector is not merely a service sector; it is a pillar of the national and sovereign project, and a fundamental cornerstone in protecting the land and strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of rapidly evolving challenges.

The current stage, amidst the conflicting changes on our land, compels us to reassess the reality, change our strategies, define our priorities, and reposition ourselves in accordance with the needs of our people. Therefore, our vision revolves around three essential pillars: Survival, Food, and Water.

Survival means protecting land from confiscation and bulldozing, strengthening the resilience of farmers in targeted areas, and supporting them with all available resources.

Food is no longer an option or a developmental luxury; it has become a sovereign necessity and an urgent national priority, compelling us to enhance local production, reduce dependency, and build more efficient and sustainable agricultural value chains.

Water is the crux of the conflict and the foundation of sustainability, requiring water resource management, development of modern irrigation systems, and strengthening our agricultural communities' resilience in the face of resource scarcity.

In this context, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the principles of transparency and fairness in the distribution of projects and services, ensuring that support reaches those who deserve it according to clear professional standards, away from any other considerations. We also believe that genuine partnership with civil society organizations, the private sector, and international institutions working in the agricultural sector constitutes a fundamental pillar for maximizing impact, achieving integration, and unifying efforts in service of our national goals.

The launch of this new website is intended to be an open channel of communication with citizens, a platform for showcasing policies, programs, and achievements, and a tool for enhancing accountability and transparency, as well as for exchanging knowledge and expertise. We envision it as a vibrant space that reflects the voice of the farmer, documents the national effort, and portrays the agricultural sector as the first line of defense for the land, identity, and sovereignty.

We will continue to work diligently with responsiblity, relying on the expertise of our staff, the support of our government, and the trust of our people, to build a strong, sustainable, and equitable agricultural sector that forms a solid foundation for the presence of Palestinian people on their land and their resilience in the face of all challenges.

May Allah grant us success.
