Ramallah and Al-Bireh Agriculture Directorate carries out an exchange visit for 17 female farmers to Salfit, in cooperation with Salfit Agriculture and FAO, and with funding from the European Union.

Ramallah and Al-Bireh Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Salfit Agriculture Directorate and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), carried out an exchange field visit to Salfit Governorate, targeting 17 female livestock breeders in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, with the aim of enhancing their knowledge and skills in modern farm management, and applying health safety requirements in the production and processing of milk products.
The visit came within the project “Enhancing the skills and practices of livestock breeders at all stages of the animal value chain in the West Bank - Palestine”, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, which aims to develop the skills of livestock breeders and improve the practices followed at various stages of the animal value chain.
Participating in the visit were the Head of the Rural Development Department in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Alaa Al-Sayyed, the Head of the Rural Development Department in Salfit Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Maysa Makosa, the Head of the Ruminants Department in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Ahmed Al-Boom, and the Head of the Ruminants Department in the Salfit Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Ahmed Abdullah.

The visit included a field tour at Al-Tahadi Farm in the town of Kafl Haris, where the participants learned about the best practices in dairy manufacturing and the application of health safety requirements. They also visited a model farm for sheep and cows, and learned about the use of milk substitutes and methods of feeding sheep with fodder crops, in addition to the use of plastic flooring to preserve newborns and improve their rearing conditions.
The visit also included a dairy factory, where participants learned about the mechanisms of manufacturing dairy products and their production stages, which enhances their knowledge of healthy and sound practices that contribute to ensuring the quality and safety of products, and improving the added value of livestock products.

Ramallah, Al-Bireh and Salfit Agriculture Directorates stress the importance of exchange field visits in transferring experiences and successful practices between male and female farmers, and empowering women working in the livestock sector, which contributes to developing farm management, improving production, and improving the quality and safety of dairy products, in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to develop the livestock sector and enhance the capabilities of its workers.
