Minister of Agriculture Professor Rizq Slaimiya received the new Ambassador of Denmark to the State of Palestine, Ms. Anne Louise Klinkby, at his office in the Ministry headquarters. The meeting was attended by the Head of Danish Cooperation, Mr. Sofus Pedersen, and Ms. Miral Al-Far. Also the meeting was attended by officials as follows MinistryUndersecretary Eng. Badr Al-Hawamdeh, Assistant Undersecretary Mr. Tariq Abu Laban, Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Hossam Tuleib, Director General of International Relations and Media Eng. Mahmoud Fatafta, and the Director of the Minister’s Office, Ms. Diana Elian.
The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her new role, commending the existing relations and partnership between the two sides.
Slaimiya emphasized that the agricultural sector serves as a fundamental pillar for resilience and for anchoring citizens to their land, as well as being a pivotal productive and economic sector. He valued Danish support and its role in developing the agricultural sector over the past years, noting that the Ministry’s priorities focus on developing field and forage crops and the livestock sector, creating youth employment, and strengthening urgent response measures to support farmers. The two sides also discussed continuing cooperation under the Agricultural Business Development Program (MAP III) and building upon the successes achieved by MAP I and MAP II in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), value chains, and job creation. Discussions further covered strengthening the "Green Jobs" program; collaborating on climate-smart agriculture, water harvesting, solar energy, and modern irrigation; and boosting agricultural investment in areas classified as "Area C."
For her part, the Danish Ambassador affirmed her country's commitment to supporting and developing the Palestinian agricultural sector and continuing to fund the MAP III program. She expressed the Embassy's readiness to expand cooperation in areas such as youth employment, field crop cultivation, emergency response and rehabilitation of the agricultural sector in Gaza Strip, and the transfer of Danish expertise in water, energy, and climate-related fields.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and partnership to support farmers and enhance their resilience ,boost agricultural investment, and develop the sector.
