Slaimiya inaugurates and inspects a number of agricultural projects in Qalqilya (Jurat Amra, Falamya, Sir) with a value exceeding 7.3 million shekels.

Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Slaimiya, conducted a field visit to Qalqilya Governorate to monitor and review the status of agricultural and development projects and inaugurate several vital projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of citizens and farmers.

The Minister began his tour with a visit to the First Joint Services Council – Jorat Amra Villages, where he was received by the Council Chairman, Mr. Luay Tayem, and a number of residents. They discussed the area's needs and its service and agricultural priorities.

The tour also included a visit to a Palestinian dairy farm, where the Minister inaugurated a solar energy project as part of the "MAP 2" program, valued at approximately 185,000 shekels. This project will contribute to reducing production costs and promoting reliance on alternative energy.

In Falamya village , the Minister reviewed a groundwater well rehabilitation project and visited a project implemented under the EU-funded agricultural assistance program, valued at approximately 72,000 shekels. This program aims to support agricultural infrastructure and empower farmers.

In Sir village , the Minister inaugurated a water project that included providing components for an agricultural well and irrigation lines, valued at 1,250,000 shekels and funded by the Palestinian government. He also inaugurated a queen bee breeding laboratory and a honey bottling and sorting line, also part of the "MAP 2" program, valued at approximately 185,000 shekels. This project aims to develop the beekeeping sector and improve the quality of local products. At the conclusion of the tour, the Minister oversaw the distribution of over 2,000 enlarged olive saplings to 85 beneficiaries as part of the Palestinian government-funded emergency response program supporting farmers affected by Israeli occupation measures.

The Minister emphasized that these projects are part of the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts to bolster farmers' resilience, support investment in the agricultural sector, and develop infrastructure to improve production and increase income in rural areas.

Slaimiya noted that the current circumstances in the region have significantly impacted several aspects of the agricultural sector, particularly the availability of production inputs, including fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and animal feed, as well as the food processing sector. This necessitates intensified efforts to support farmers and strengthen their resilience in the face of these challenges. He noted that the "MAP 2" program in Qalqilya Governorate saw the signing of agreements benefiting 14 beneficiaries, with a total value of approximately 4.5 million shekels (including beneficiary contributions).

He also explained that the EU-funded agricultural assistance program approved the implementation of 31 projects in the governorate, with a total value of nearly 1.4 million shekels. Twenty-five of these projects have been completed so far, while the remaining projects are being finalized.

The Minister stressed the importance of farmers documenting any attacks they experience and contacting the Ministry of Agriculture through its offices located throughout the governorates. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling all the conditions and requirements approved by the European Union for registering damages, submitting reports, and following up on them, in order to obtain approval and benefit from available support programs. Samir Samara; the Director General of the Qalqilya Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Ahmed Eid, and his staff; and the Chairman of the Jordanian-Palestinian Company for Marketing Agricultural Products in Palestine, Mr. Tariq. Abu Khayzaran.
