Palestinian Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Slaimiya, participated virtually on Tuesday in the Arab Mashreq Conference on Agricultural Exports, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on September 15–16, 2026. In his address, he discussed the importance of agricultural integration among Arab Mashreq nations and the need to strengthen joint efforts in production, exports, and food security.
Slaimiya emphasized the importance of integration among Arab Mashreq countries, noting that it enables the utilization of opportunities arising from each nation's comparative agricultural advantages. He advocated for collective action to enhance self-sufficiency levels—moving beyond individual efforts—and stressed the necessity of drawing on past experiences and developing cooperation mechanisms to tackle the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
During his speech, the Minister of Agriculture outlined the Palestinian experience of sustaining life and production under the conditions of the First Intifada. He cited this as a significant example of maintaining output, bolstering resilience, and meeting food needs amidst extraordinary circumstances, underscoring the importance of applying these lessons to advance joint agricultural initiatives and strengthen the region's capacity to confront crises. Organized by the Jordanian Association of Vegetable and Fruit Exporters and Producers, the conference addressed various issues concerning food security in the Levant. It explored the use of logistics and agricultural finance as tools to foster joint export efforts, while also focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural exports and expanding market access.
The event was attended by the Ministers of Agriculture of Jordan and Lebanon, the Assistant Minister of Agriculture from Syria, and the Regional Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

An agricultural exhibition was held alongside the conference, featuring pavilions and exhibitors from the participating countries.
Palestine participated in the exhibition with a dedicated pavilion showcasing six agricultural companies. The delegation included Mr. Tariq Abu Laban, Assistant Undersecretary for the Economic Sector, and Engineer Ayman Hijazi, Director of Exhibitions. This participation reflects the presence of the Palestinian agricultural sector at regional events and underscores the Ministry's commitment to fostering cooperation and exchange, as well as opening new horizons for Palestinian agricultural products.
