On Monday, the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Slaimiya, received the Chair of Al-Quds University, Professor Imad Abu Kishek, at his office in the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Ramallah. The two discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation between the Ministry and the University across agricultural, research, and academic fields.
Professor Slaimiya emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships with Palestinian universities and leveraging their scientific and research expertise to develop the agricultural sector. Such collaboration, he noted, would help address the challenges faced by farmers, improve productivity, and enhance food security.
He further highlighted the need to expand cooperation in scientific research, training, and the exchange of expertise, while aligning academic outputs with the actual needs of the agricultural sector. This would enable academic institutions to play a greater role in developing scientific and practical solutions to agricultural challenges.
For his part, Dr. Imad Abu Kishek, underscored the significance of collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture and broadening the scope of joint initiatives to serve the Palestinian agricultural sector, advance education and scientific research, and utilize the resources and expertise available to both parties.
The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Engineering, Dr. Thameen Al-Hijawi. The participants reaffirmed the importance of ongoing coordination and cooperation to support research and development, and to strengthen the integration between academic institutions and official bodies, ultimately serving farmers and advancing the Palestinian agricultural sector.
