The Minister of Agriculture witnesses new agricultural engineers taking the professional oath and joins the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate in celebrating Arab Agricultural Engineer Day.

Minister of Agriculture Professor Rizq Slaimiya participated on Wednesday in a ceremony organized by the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate to mark Arab Agricultural Engineer Day. The event was attended by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Amjad Barham; the Head of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, Younis Yameen; and the Head of the Veterinarians Syndicate, Dr. Abdul Karim Abu Zunaid.
The ceremony featured the oath of a new cohort of agricultural engineers and the honoring  of agricultural engineers who successfully passed their 2026 high school examinations.
Slaimiya congratulated the new agricultural engineers and the honored students, affirming that union activity is a cornerstone of democratic practice and a vital component of government performance. He stressed the necessity of synergy between the government and professional unions, noting that all parties are partners in the national journey toward building the Palestinian state.
He highlighted the significant role played by Palestinian agricultural engineers despite the challenges facing the profession, noting that unemployment rates in the fields of agricultural engineering and veterinary medicine are among the lowest compared to other professions. Slaimiya emphasized that the current phase requires fostering a culture of resilience, productivity, and food and water security, as well as active engagement in production at both individual and collective levels. He noted that safeguarding food and water resources and strengthening resilience are essential components of confronting the challenges imposed by the occupation.
He also highlighted the importance of compassion, solidarity, and mutual support within Palestinian society, citing a community fundraising initiative launched to assist a farmer whose flock of 240 sheep had been confiscated. He affirmed that mobilizing collective efforts and fostering solidarity serve as vital pillars for supporting Palestinian farmers and bolstering their steadfastness.
For his part, the Head of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, Younis Yameen, underscored the significance of the occasion in honoring agricultural engineers and acknowledging their role in serving the agricultural sector and the farming community. He stressed the Syndicate's ongoing commitment to advancing the profession and enhancing the presence of agricultural engineers across various agricultural and national spheres.
Additionally, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, delivered brief remarks highlighting the crucial role agricultural engineers play in preserving and protecting the land, as well as in supporting Palestinian farmers and reinforcing their resilience.
