Ministry of Agriculture: Yatta Agriculture Directorate and JICA conduct a participatory workshop in Yatta to identify the training needs of farmers.

Yatta Agriculture and Veterinary Directorate, in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), implemented a participatory workshop entitled “Identifying Training Needs,” with the participation of 13 male and female farmers, as part of joint efforts to enhance the capabilities of farmers and develop their skills in various agricultural fields, in a way that is compatible with their practical needs and the agricultural reality in the region.
The workshop formed a participatory space to listen directly to male and female farmers, discuss the most prominent challenges they face in their agricultural work, in addition to identifying the skills and knowledge they need to develop, which helps determine training priorities more accurately and link training programs to the actual needs of the beneficiaries.
During the workshop, opinions and proposals were exchanged on the nature of training and extension interventions that could be implemented in the future, in a way that enhances farmers’ benefit from the programs provided, and increases their ability to deal with agricultural challenges and develop their production practices.

This workshop comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and strengthening the partnership in the fields of agricultural extension and training, which contributes to building the capabilities of male and female farmers, raising production efficiency and improving livelihoods, in addition to supporting farmers’ steadfastness and continuity in agricultural work.
The Ministry of Agriculture stresses the importance of adopting a participatory approach in designing extension and training programs, based on the needs of farmers and their field observations, and providing them with knowledge and skills that help them develop their agricultural businesses and improve their ability to respond to the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
