Ministry of Agriculture: Tulkarem Agriculture and GIZ receive the final solar power station for Bab Al-Ain well in Kafr Jamal with a capacity of 70 kilowatts with a cost of about 122 thousand shekels.

Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture received the final handover of the 70-kilowatt solar power plant for Bab al-Ain well in Kafr Jamal on Tuesday. The plant, costing approximately 122,000 shekels, is part of the "Improving Livelihoods – Phase III" project. Representatives from the Palestinian Hydrologists Group, village councils from Kafr Jamal area, and the well committee were present.

The project was implemented in partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The Palestinian Hydrologists Group oversaw the project, which aims to provide a sustainable energy source for operating the well and reducing irrigation water extraction costs.

The solar power plant will contribute to lowering the well's operating costs, positively impacting farmers by reducing irrigation water prices, lowering agricultural production costs, and enhancing the efficiency of energy and water use.

This project aligns with the Ministry's efforts to strengthen farmers' resilience to the effects of climate change, promote the use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector, improve resource efficiency, and support the sustainability of agricultural production. The ministry emphasizes the importance of solar energy projects for agricultural wells, as they provide practical solutions to reduce production costs, improve water and energy efficiency, and enhance farmers’ resilience and ability to continue investing in their lands.
