Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture conducted a practical demonstration on cheesemaking at Shweika Cooperative Society for Agricultural Services, with the participation of 25 women. This demonstration was part of the project "Strengthening the Skills and Practices of Livestock Breeders at All Stages of the Animal Value Chain in the West Bank," funded by the European Union and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The demonstration included a practical explanation of the steps involved in making traditional white cheese and the correct boiling method. It also addressed common cheese defects, their causes, and how to avoid them, as well as the fundamentals of proper milking and its importance in ensuring product quality and safety.
This demonstration is part of the Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture's efforts to develop the capabilities of rural women and enhance their practical skills in home-based food processing, thereby contributing to improved income levels and encouraging sustainable home production.
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes the importance of implementing training and extension activities aimed at empowering rural women and increasing their efficiency in food processing and animal production, which will positively impact food security and rural development.
