Tulkarem Agriculture Directorate , in partnership with FAO and with EU funding, trained 20 beneficiaries from the Shweika Cooperative Society on sheep farm management and safe dairy production

Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture conducted a specialized training session for 20 beneficiaries from Shweika Cooperative Society on best practices in sheep farm management and the safe production of milk and dairy products. This training was part of the project "Strengthening the Skills and Practices of Livestock Breeders at Various Stages of the Animal Value Chain in the West Bank," funded by the European Union and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Dr. Mu'ayyad Salman opened the session, emphasizing the importance of adhering to sound practices and necessary health procedures to produce safe, high-quality milk that meets approved specifications and standards. This contributes to enhancing food safety, protecting consumer health, and improving the quality of animal products.

During the training, Engineer Marwan Al-Ramini reviewed the principles of good sheep farm management and the daily and seasonal operations that should be followed on the farm to increase production efficiency, improve the quality of animal products, and boost the economic returns for breeders. The training also covered best practices for the safe production of milk and dairy products, from milking and handling on the farm to processing and marketing, with a focus on applying hygiene and public health standards that ensure product safety and quality.

Engineer Hanaa Khraisha explained that this activity is part of a series of training and guidance programs aimed at developing the capabilities of livestock breeders and enhancing their knowledge and skills at various stages of the animal value chain. This, in turn, positively impacts production quality, the sustainability of agricultural projects, and the income of families working in this sector.

The Tulkarm Directorate of Agriculture affirms that these activities are part of the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts to support the livestock sector, improve the efficiency of breeders, empower rural women, and promote sound agricultural practices. This contributes to achieving sustainable agricultural development and improving the livelihoods of farming families in the governorate.
