Ministry of Agriculture: Tubas Agriculture Directorate participates in signing an agreement to rehabilitate 4 km of agricultural roads and develop water sources in Aqaba with funding from the Swedish "We Effect Foundation".

Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture, in partnership with the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ), signed a funding agreement for a project to rehabilitate agricultural roads and develop water resources in the town of Aqaba. This project falls under the "Strengthening Livelihoods, Infrastructure, and Food Systems (LIFT)" program, funded by the Swedish organization We Effect.

The project aims to rehabilitate 4 kilometers of agricultural roads in Aqaba, as well as develop water resources by equipping licensed wells with pipelines and solar energy systems. This will contribute to improving services provided to the agricultural sector, facilitating farmers' access to their lands, and enhancing the efficiency of water resource use.

The project also includes the "Enhancing Livelihoods, Infrastructure, and Food Systems (LIFT)" program. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of representatives from partner institutions, local stakeholders, and a number of farmers in the town of Aqaba. The project's objectives and its importance in supporting agricultural development and improving agricultural infrastructure in the region were reviewed. The project is being implemented by the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture. It was launched at the end of 2025 and will continue until the end of 2029.

Partner representatives emphasized the importance of these interventions in supporting sustainable agricultural development and enhancing food security. They noted that developing agricultural infrastructure and improving water resource management are fundamental pillars for strengthening farmers' resilience and improving their productivity.

This project is part of the joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture, partner institutions, and donors to develop agricultural infrastructure, improve livelihoods in rural areas, enhance food security, and support the resilience of citizens on their land.
