Ministry of Agriculture: North Hebron Agriculture Directorate carries out spraying campaign to combat the squirt insect in forests and afforestation projects

The North of Hebron Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Hebron Agriculture Directorate, conducted a field campaign to combat the pine processionary caterpillar, which infests conifer trees. This campaign is part of the General Directorate of Forests and Rangelands' plan to protect forest cover.

The Forests and Rangelands Department of the North Hebron Agriculture Directorate sprayed trees in forested areas, as well as newly planted saplings within the afforestation project implemented through the "Greening Palestine" initiative, using specialized insecticides to limit the spread of this pest.

The pine processionary caterpillar is considered a serious pest threatening conifer trees in the Mediterranean basin, causing damage that affects tree growth and forest sustainability.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that these efforts are part of the agricultural sector's strategy to preserve and protect forests from pests and to enhance the sustainability of natural resources in the governorate.
