Ministry of Agriculture: North Hebron Agriculture, in cooperation with the UNDP, conduct an orientation meeting for 20 farmers on supplemental irrigation for olive trees within the “My Initiative” project in Beit Ula.

The North Hebron Agriculture Directorate conducted an interactive training session with 20 olive farmers participating in the field school in Beit Ula area. The session focused on the importance of supplemental irrigation for olive trees and its role in enhancing the trees' resistance to drought and improving productivity. This activity was part of the "My Initiative" project – Olive and Field Schools component – ​​implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Engineers Mai Arar and Shawq Bahr presented a session addressing the water requirements of olive trees and the importance of determining the timing and quantity of supplemental irrigation according to agricultural conditions and the trees' needs. They also discussed a range of technical practices that contribute to the optimal use of water and enhance the efficiency of water resource management.

The session then moved from theory to practical application in the field, where the farmers implemented the supplemental irrigation guidelines using the barrels distributed to them. This practice strengthened their ability to manage available water resources and implement sustainable agricultural practices in their olive groves.

This activity comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and the North Hebron Agriculture Directorate to promote applied agricultural extension and enable farmers to adopt more efficient and sustainable practices, which contributes to supporting their resilience, improving the productivity of olive trees, and enhancing water use efficiency in light of the current climatic challenges and agricultural conditions.
