Under the patronage of the Governor of Jenin, Mr. Kamal Abu Al-Rub, Jenin Agriculture Directorate inaugurated 22.8 km of agricultural roads. These roads were constructed and rehabilitated as part of the "Investment in Water, Land, and Agricultural Roads" project—implemented in cooperation with the Land Research Center (LRC) and the Ma’an Development Center—with the aim of improving farmers' access to their lands, enhancing land utilization, and bolstering their resilience.
The completed works covered 6.5 km in Silat al-Harithiya, 2.8 km in Ta’anak, 3.8 km in Kufr Dan, 6.5 km in Faqqua, 3.5 km in ‘Arrana, and 3.5 km in Deir Ghazala. The roads were formally handed over by the Land Research Center and Ma’an Development Center during a field tour. This followed a meeting attended by the Governor, representatives of the targeted municipalities and local councils, Jenin Agriculture Directorate, the Land Research Center, and Ma’an Development Center.
Governor Abu Al-Rub emphasized the importance of agricultural roads in serving farmers, rehabilitating land, and ensuring optimal land utilization, as well as their role in paving the way for new agricultural projects. He commended the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and partner organizations in developing the agricultural sector and praised the role played by the Land Research Center and Ma’an Development Center in executing these projects.
For his part, the Director General of Jenin Governorate Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Bassem Hammad, emphasized that these projects align with the Ministry of Agriculture’s strategy to protect agricultural land and bolster the resilience of landowners—particularly given the challenges facing the agricultural sector. He noted that agricultural roads are essential for sustainable agricultural production, as they facilitate farmers' access to their land, enable its cultivation, and open up new opportunities for agricultural ventures.
Mahmoud Al-Saifi, representing the Land Research Center, highlighted the importance of collaboration and synergy between the Ministry of Agriculture and partner agricultural organizations in implementing projects that benefit farmers. He explained that constructing agricultural roads improves land accessibility and utilization rates. Meanwhile, Engineer Hassan Abu Al-Rub from the Ma’an Development Center praised the significance of these projects and outlined a series of initiatives the organization plans to implement in the near future.
The targeted municipalities and local councils commended the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Land Research Center, and Ma’an Development Center. They affirmed that the construction and rehabilitation of agricultural roads provide direct support to farmers and the agricultural sector; such efforts improve agricultural infrastructure and enhance farmers' ability to access and cultivate their land, thereby strengthening their resilience and attachment to their territory.
