Ministry of Agriculture: South Hebron Agriculture Department and Hebron Community Center distribute supplies for the "Improved Cactus" project to (20) beneficiaries in Dura, Al-Ramadin, and Al-Dhahiriya

The Ministry of Agriculture, represented by the South Hebron Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Hebron Community Center for Youth and Adult Education, has begun implementing a series of field activities to distribute agricultural supplies as part of the "Improved (Violet) Prickly Pear" project in several targeted areas of the governorate. This initiative is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to strengthen farmers' resilience and develop the agricultural sector.

The interventions included distributing purple prickly pear seedlings, along with essential production inputs such as irrigation networks and related equipment, to 20 farmers in the western part of Dura, Al-Ramadin, and Al-Dhahiriya. The aim is to establish model farms specializing in improved prickly pear cultivation, thereby opening new investment opportunities and contributing to improved income sources through the introduction of high-value agricultural varieties.

In this context, the Director General of the South Hebron Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Khalil Abu Aqifan, affirmed that the project falls within the Ministry of Agriculture's strategic vision aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural development. He pointed out the Ministry's focus on supporting farmers in rural areas and enhancing agricultural diversity by introducing improved varieties that are adaptable to environmental conditions and possess high economic viability. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with local institutions to empower youth and farmers in rural development.

For his part, Jamil Darbashi, Director of the Hebron Community Center for Youth and Adult Education, praised the level of coordination and cooperation with the Agriculture Directorate's staff. He commended the efforts made to ensure that agricultural supplies reach those who need them and affirmed the Center's commitment to achieving a tangible developmental impact through this partnership, particularly in establishing model agricultural plots.

This step underscores the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to continuing its support for the agricultural sector and strengthening the resilience of citizens on their land by implementing impactful interventions that contribute to achieving sustainable development amidst current challenges.
