Bethlehem: April 23, 2026

Bethlehem Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Plant Protection, organized a specialized training workshop on "Combating the Olive Fruit Fly Using Environmentally Friendly Traps." This workshop is part of their ongoing efforts to protect the olive sector and enhance its sustainability.

The workshop targeted approximately 40 olive grove owners, providing them with practical and theoretical training on trap installation techniques and biological control methods. This contributes to preserving olive oil quality and reducing reliance on chemical pesticides.

The intervention targets approximately 650 dunams of olive groves in the area, with over 5,000 environmentally friendly traps distributed to participating farmers. This will enhance crop protection during the current agricultural season.

This activity is implemented with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and in coordination with the technical teams at the Ministry of Agriculture. Its aim is to support farmers' resilience and develop their capacity to combat agricultural pests using modern and environmentally safe methods.
