Ministry of Agriculture: Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate implements a field day for 15 farmers in Beit Ijza in cooperation with Jerusalem Governorate and the Moroccan Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency.

Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Jerusalem Governorate and Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, conducted a field day targeting 15 olive farmers in the town of Beit Ijza, northwest of Jerusalem. This activity was part of the Field Schools program, aimed at developing the olive sector, and was generously funded by the Kingdom of Morocco.

Engineer Abdullah Al-Dahleh, Director of Extension at Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate, emphasized the importance of the Field Schools program in promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge among farmers under the supervision of specialized agricultural engineers. This contributes to disseminating sound agricultural practices and improving olive tree productivity and oil quality.

The field day included a practical demonstration by Engineer Muhammad Sarhan, Head of the Olive Department, covering supplemental irrigation programs and their importance during critical fruit growth stages. He also discussed safe methods for controlling the olive fruit fly using attractant traps, as well as techniques for painting tree trunks with lime and copper sulfate to protect them from diseases and pests. This activity is part of a series of seven field schools implemented by Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate in partnership with the Jerusalem Governorate and Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, within the framework of the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the governorate, with support and funding from the Kingdom of Morocco.
