The Ministry of Agriculture distributed 3,106 enlarged olive trees and 36 water tanks to affected farmers in Silat al-Harithiya, Yamoun, Arqa, Faqou’a, Jalboun, Kafr Ra’i and Jenin

In the presence of Jenin Governor Kamal Abu al-Rub, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs Amjad Salah, and Director General of the Jenin Agriculture Directorate Omar Bisharat, and with the participation of the Jenin Agriculture Directorate staff, the Ministry of Agriculture distributed 3,106 mature, three-year-old olive trees, in addition to 36 water tanks with a capacity of 1.5 cubic meters each, to 36 farmers from seven communities in the Jenin Governorate: Silat al-Harithiya, Ya'bad, Arqa, Faqqu'a, Jalbun, Kafr Ra'i, and Jenin City.

This initiative is part of the Ministry's program to support affected farmers and strengthen their resilience on their land, particularly those whose lands have been subjected to bulldozing and the uprooting of olive trees as a result of attacks by settlers and occupation forces. The Ministry affirms that this activity complements its efforts that began yesterday in the southern West Bank with the distribution of seedlings in Hebron Governorate. The Ministry continues to implement a national program for distributing agricultural seedlings across various governorates, aiming to rehabilitate damaged lands and enhance the sustainability of agricultural production.

The distribution of mature seedlings is particularly important for farmers, as they are three years old, shortening the growth period and accelerating the trees' entry into the production stage compared to younger seedlings. This contributes to the faster revitalization of lands that have been subjected to attacks, giving farmers the opportunity to resume their agricultural activities and minimize their losses.

Furthermore, providing agricultural water tanks enables farmers to secure irrigation sources for newly planted seedlings, especially in areas suffering from limited water resources. This strengthens agricultural stability in those lands and ensures the sustainability of the planted trees. The Ministry of Agriculture indicates that it continues, through its government nurseries and private sector nurseries, to produce and provide agricultural seedlings to farmers in various governorates, within programs aimed at rehabilitating damaged lands and supporting the expansion of olive tree cultivation as a fundamental pillar of the Palestinian agricultural sector, and an important element in strengthening the resilience of farmers and protecting the land.
