As part of the urgent vaccination and tagging campaign launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, veterinary teams from Yatta Agriculture Directorate conducted a large-scale field campaign in the communities of Jinba, Al-Markaz, and Al-Halawa in Masafer Yatta. On its first day, the campaign targeted 4,300 sheep belonging to 45 farmers, as part of an ongoing plan that will continue in the coming days to include more pastoral communities and livestock breeders in the area.

This campaign comes as an urgent response directed by Minister of Agriculture Professor Rizq Slaimiya to support livestock breeders in Masafer Yatta and enhance their ability to face escalating challenges, given the continuous attacks on pastoral communities by the occupation forces and settler groups. This initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen the resilience of farmers, protect livestock, and preserve their livelihoods. The campaign includes vaccinating herds against foot-and-mouth disease (SAT-1), tagging animals, and placing special identification tags that contribute to documenting ownership, enhancing animal traceability, and protecting them. This reduces the risks faced by livestock breeders and helps preserve their livestock.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that these interventions fall under its emergency response program to protect livestock and strengthen the resilience of farmers in threatened areas, thus contributing to the preservation of livestock production and supporting Palestinian food security.

The campaign will continue until all livestock in all areas have been tagged and vaccinated.
