The Ministry of Agriculture and (UNDP) launch the activities of the "My Initiative" project to support the manufacturing of alternative animal feed in the northern Jordan Valley

The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Northern Jordan Valley Agriculture Department/Tubas Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with the Project Management Unit and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), launched the "My Initiative" project to support the production of alternative animal feed. This launch took place during an introductory meeting held in the Bardala community, with the participation of association members and project beneficiaries.

The meeting reviewed the most prominent activities and interventions to be implemented within the project, particularly in the area of ​​developing and producing alternative animal feed as a practical solution to mitigate the high costs of traditional feed. The meeting also discussed the training and extension programs that the Ministry of Agriculture will implement to improve farmers' efficiency and enhance their technical and productive capacities.

The meeting also included a discussion of the project plan's components, which are based on a technical study prepared by the UNDP. This ensures that the proposed interventions align with the actual needs of the sector and contribute to strengthening the sustainability of livestock projects in the region.

A discussion was held with farmers to identify the most significant field challenges they face, especially those related to biosecurity requirements and the high cost of production inputs. Observations and suggestions were documented to enhance the effectiveness of implementation and achieve the desired impact. The activity concluded with a field visit to the beneficiaries' sites, during which the actual needs on the ground and the suitability of the proposed interventions were assessed. Farmers emphasized the project's importance in supporting their resilience and improving their ability to continue operating under the current economic conditions.

It is worth noting that the "My Initiative – Empowering Marginalized Communities through Investment in Agribusiness Development" project is implemented jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from India, Brazil, and South Africa through the IBSA Fund. The project aims to build institutional and technical capacities and promote sustainable agricultural development in rural Palestine.
