The Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), signed a new batch of investment support agreements under the MAP II program, "Promoting Market-Oriented Investments and Innovations for the Development of a Sustainable Agricultural and Food System," implemented in the West Bank governorates.

This batch included the signing of 13 investment agreements distributed across the governorates of Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarm, Tubas, and Qalqilya, with total investments amounting to 3,888,221 NIS. The program's contribution (in the form of direct, non-refundable grants) reached 1,756,421.66 NIS, representing 45% of the total investments, while the beneficiaries contributed 2,131,800.33 NIS.

The projects varied, encompassing the development of plant and animal production and food processing initiatives. These initiatives aim to strengthen agricultural value chains, increase the added value of local products, and support employment opportunities and improve the income of farming families.

In this context, Minister of Agriculture Professor Rizq Slaimiyeh emphasized that the signing of these agreements comes at a critical and challenging time for our people, requiring greater unity and resilience across all governorates. He stressed that investing in the land is an investment in steadfastness and survival.

Slaimiyeh emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture will continue working alongside Palestinian farmers to bolster their resilience and develop their projects, because agriculture is not merely an economic sector, but a symbol of identity, sovereignty, and steadfastness. He added that the Ministry will continue to monitor the implementation of these projects on the ground to ensure the desired impact and maximize the benefits of the support provided under the MAP II program, in partnership with the FAO and donor countries, thus contributing to building a more sustainable agricultural and food system capable of facing challenges. The investment support agreements are being implemented within the framework of two projects under an initiative by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, and funded by the Multi-Donor Agribusiness Program (MAP II), entitled "Promoting Market-Oriented Investments and Innovations for Sustainable Development of Food and Agriculture Systems." Funding is provided by the governments of Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, and the European Union, in addition to parallel funding from the Italian government under the project "Promoting Innovative and Sustainable Market-Oriented Investments in the Agri-Food Sector in the West Bank." The agreements were signed at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Ramallah, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry. Mr. Bader Al-Hawamdeh, a number of agents and assistant agents, and ministry staff working on implementing the program, along with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
