Tulkarm Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Rural Women's Development Society (RWDS), delivered agricultural food processing equipment and machinery to three agricultural cooperatives operating in this sector. This initiative aims to support and empower cooperatives and enhance their resilience.
This activity falls under the program to promote sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, specifically through the project "Strengthening Resilience in Women-Led Agricultural Cooperatives through Crisis-Responsive Business Models." The project is implemented by RWDS in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The equipment was delivered to Kafr al-Labad Women's Cooperative, Kafr Abboush Agricultural Cooperative, and Bal'a Women's Cooperative for Food Processing. Each cooperative received specialized equipment and machinery based on pre-identified needs and tailored to its specific operations.
The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that this step comes within the framework of strengthening the capabilities of agricultural cooperatives and increasing their productive efficiency, thereby contributing to improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries, especially in rural areas. Thus, the agricultural cooperatives, particularly those led by women, play a vital role in providing job opportunities and supporting the local economy, and constitute a primary source of income for many families, and enhancing their resilience and economic and social stability.
