Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture distributed irrigation networks to five pioneering olive farmers in the town of Aqaba, and equipped a model plot of land in the Salhab area with an irrigation network. This activity was part of "Strengthening Green Gold for the Palestinian Economy" project, funded by Oxfam Denmark, in partnership with Oxfam Palestine and Al-Reef Company, and implemented by the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development.
This activity aims to support olive farmers by promoting the use of modern irrigation systems and supplemental irrigation, thereby increasing water use efficiency, improving olive grove productivity, and enhancing farmers' ability to cope with the challenges associated with water scarcity.
The project also aims to disseminate modern agricultural practices by establishing a model plot of land equipped with an irrigation network in the Salhab area. This allows farmers to learn about practical applications of optimal irrigation management and transfer expertise that contributes to improving and sustaining agricultural production. The implementation of this activity comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and its partners to support the olive sector, enhance the efficiency of natural resource use, and enable farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, thereby strengthening their resilience, increasing the productivity of their orchards, and contributing to achieving sustainable agricultural development.
