Ministry of Agriculture: Qalqilya Agriculture Directorate conducts a field day on pruning guava trees in the town of Falamya

The Extension Services Department at Qalqilya Directorate of Agriculture conducted a specialized field day on guava tree pruning in the town of Falamya. This activity was part of its extension program aimed at developing farmers' technical skills and improving production quality.

During the event, it was explained that the best time to prune guava trees is from February until mid-March, when the trees are dormant before the start of the new growth and flowering season. This ensures a better response to pruning and achieves excellent yields.

The field day also included a practical demonstration of the objectives of pruning, which include removing dry, diseased, and crossed branches to improve air circulation within the tree, as well as shortening long branches to facilitate harvesting and increase the number of fruits. This contributes to strengthening the tree's structure and ensuring a bountiful harvest throughout the season.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that implementing these activities is part of its ongoing efforts to promote agricultural practices and build specialized technical capacities among farmers, which will positively impact production quality and the sustainability of the agricultural sector in the governorate.
