Ministry of Agriculture: The South Hebron Agriculture Directorate organizes a guidance tour for 20 livestock breeders in Al-Dhahiriya, Al-Sarrah and Abu Al-Asja to Jericho in cooperation with the "EcoPeace Middle East" Foundation.

South of Hebron Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with EcoPeace Middle East, organized a field trip for 20 livestock breeders from Al-Dhahiriya, Al-Sarrah, and Abu Asja to the wastewater treatment plant in Jericho. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the wastewater treatment and reuse process for agriculture and to raise awareness about the sustainable management of water resources.

Participants listened to a presentation by Engineer Imran Khalaf, Jericho Municipality supervisor of the treatment plant, about the plant's construction phases and operational mechanisms. This included the process of receiving and treating wastewater to producing treated water that meets agricultural standards and is used for irrigating crops according to approved environmental and health standards. The participants also toured the plant's facilities and observed its operating and monitoring systems.

The tour included a visit to Jericho Date Palm Farmers Cooperative, where Engineer Ayman Akasha explained the use of treated wastewater for irrigating date palm farms. He highlighted its impact on reducing production costs, conserving traditional water resources, and increasing productivity, which has contributed to the expansion of date palm cultivation in the region.

The South Hebron Agriculture Directorate affirms that this tour is part of a series of extension activities it is implementing in cooperation with its partners. The aim is to transfer successful experiences to farmers, promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, and improve the efficiency of water resource use to serve agricultural development in the governorate.
