Ministry of Agriculture: Jericho and Jordan Valley Agriculture Directorate and the FAO sign two agreements to support agricultural projects worth approximately 692,000 shekels

Jericho and Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture signed two cooperation agreements today with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), aiming to provide a grant of approximately 692,000 shekels to support the implementation of vital agricultural projects in the governorate.

The signing of these two agreements comes within the framework of the ongoing partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO under the Multi-Donor Agricultural Business Programme (MAP II) project, which aims to enhance investment in the agricultural sector, improve food and water security, and develop value chains and supply chains, in line with the Ministry's priorities for achieving sustainable agricultural development.

These two agreements are being implemented within the framework of the Multi-Donor Agricultural Business Programme (MAP II) project entitled "Promoting Market-Oriented Investments and Innovations for the Sustainable Development of Food and Agriculture Systems," funded by the governments of Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, and the European Union, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization  (FAO). The grant will support farmers in the Jordan Valley through interventions that include developing agricultural infrastructure, enhancing farmers' technical skills, and providing improved production inputs. It will also support initiatives related to food processing and empower targeted groups, particularly women and youth, thereby boosting employment opportunities and increasing rural household incomes.

Through these partnerships, the Ministry of Agriculture continues to work on expanding the base of agricultural investments and directing them towards high-quality projects with a sustainable impact. This will support the stability of the Palestinian agricultural sector and enhance its ability to face economic and environmental challenges.
