Ministry of Agriculture: With a value of 204 thousand shekels and under the supervision of Tulkarm Agriculture Directorate, the Palestinian Hydrologists Group begins implementing the project of equipping pressure-regulated irrigation networks

Under the supervision of Tulkarm Governorate Directorate of Agriculture, the Palestinian Hydrologists Group began distributing equipment for pressurized irrigation networks in the towns of Qaffin and Anabta. This initiative is part of the "Strengthening the Resilience of Small Farmers and Supporting Sustainable Agriculture in Light of Current Changes" project, which falls under the "Improving Livelihoods in Rural Areas – Phase III" project.

The project aims to provide 50 farmers with modern irrigation network equipment to serve approximately 50 dunams of agricultural land. This will contribute to increasing the efficiency of irrigation systems, conserving water, improving crop productivity, and enhancing the sustainability of production in light of the current climate challenges and conditions facing the agricultural sector.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), in partnership with the Palestinian Hydrologists Group and under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. It is also being carried out in cooperation with farmers' committees and municipalities in the targeted areas, as part of joint efforts to strengthen the resilience of small farmers and improve their livelihoods.

The Directorate of Agriculture in Tulkarm Governorate confirms that this intervention comes within the framework of the Ministry of Agriculture’s follow-up to promote the sustainable management of water resources, and to expand the use of modern irrigation technologies that contribute to reducing water loss and increasing the efficiency of its use, in order to support the resilience of farmers, reduce the effects of climate change, and enhance the sustainability of agricultural production and food security in the targeted areas.
