As part of strengthening the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and local and international organizations supporting the agricultural sector, and under the supervision and coordination of the Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture, the Agricultural Development Association (Agricultural Relief), in partnership with Oxfam, provided Al-Ghazal Factory in Nur Shams Camp with a complete food packaging line for salad production. The project, valued at approximately 170,000 shekels, was funded by the Belgian Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD).
This intervention is part of efforts to support food processing and strengthen agricultural value chains for fresh vegetables. Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture oversaw and coordinated between the beneficiaries and the implementing partners and organizations to ensure that interventions were directed according to the needs of the agricultural and production sector in the governorate, and to maximize benefits for farmers and local food establishments.
Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture affirms that this support aims to develop processing and packaging capabilities, improve the quality of local agricultural products, create job opportunities and improve the income of dozens of farmers and workers in the agricultural value chain, reduce agricultural losses, and enhance the competitiveness of national products in local markets. For their part, the managers of Al Ghazal factory appreciated the role of the Ministry of Agriculture in supervising and coordinating with partners, stressing that the new packaging line will contribute to raising production efficiency and expanding manufacturing and marketing operations, which supports the local economy and enhances the sustainability of the production facility.
