Tulkarem: May 20, 2026
Under the supervision and participation of the Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture, the Agricultural Development Association (Agricultural Relief), in partnership with Oxfam, implemented a project to supply, install, and operate machinery for chopping, washing, filling, and packaging molokhia (jute mallow) for the Montana Company in the town of Deir al-Ghusun, Tulkarem Governorate. The project, valued at US$15,000 (approximately NIS 45,000), was funded by the Belgian Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD).
This intervention falls under the Safe Production component of the project "Increasing the Benefits of Women, Youth, and Small Farmers as Change Agents in the Fresh Vegetable Value Chain," implemented by Agricultural Relief in cooperation and coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.
The project aims to develop the capacities of agricultural and processing facilities and open new marketing channels for local products by strengthening partnerships with vegetable farmers. This ensures a year-round supply of agricultural products to the factory, adhering to good agricultural practices and safe production standards. The new production line also contributes to improving product quality and increasing production capacity, in addition to developing the work environment through automation and enhanced food safety standards. This supports employment and empowers women and youth within the agricultural and food sector.
The Ministry of Agriculture and its partners emphasize the importance of continuing to support the agricultural sector and local food industries, thereby strengthening food security, protecting domestic products, and bolstering the resilience of farmers and production facilities in the Tulkarm Governorate.
