The Ministry of Agriculture announced the rehabilitation of agricultural wells and installation of water lines in Sheikh Ejlin area, benefiting 60 farmers through a project implemented by Palestinian Agricultural Relief and funded by Oxfam.

The Ministry of Agriculture, represented by the Higher Agricultural Emergency Committee in the southern governorates, inaugurated an agricultural project in the Sheikh Ajlin area, south of Gaza City. The project, implemented by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief and funded by Oxfam, is part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen farmers' resilience and support the sustainability of the agricultural sector.

The project targets 60 small-scale farmers by providing agricultural inputs according to approved technical standards. This will contribute to reducing agricultural production costs, improving productivity, and enhancing farmers' ability to continue farming. The project interventions included the rehabilitation and maintenance of three agricultural wells in the Sheikh Ajlin area, in addition to the operation of six agricultural wells to support the continuity of irrigation operations and enhance the stability and sustainability of agricultural activity.

The work also included the installation of four kilometers of water pipelines to improve water access to agricultural lands, reduce water loss, and ensure equitable distribution among beneficiary farmers.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that these interventions are part of the agricultural emergency plan overseen by the Ministry, represented by the Higher Agricultural Emergency Committee, in cooperation with partner and supporting institutions, thereby strengthening food security and supporting the resilience of farmers in the southern governorates.
