Nablus: October 18, 2026
The local committee for the National Olive Harvest Campaign in Nablus Governorate—with the participation of Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas, Nablus Directorate of Agriculture, Nablus Municipality, and representatives from official institutions, community groups, and security services—organized a national support event in the town of Sebastia. The event, which included local residents and farmers, aimed to bolster their steadfastness and strengthen their presence on their agricultural lands during the olive harvest season.
This initiative is part of the broader National Olive Harvest Campaign, led by the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with official and civil society institutions, security services, local authorities, and national political factions. The campaign seeks to coordinate field efforts and mobilize national and community resources to support farmers, facilitate their access to their lands, and enhance their ability to continue agricultural work—particularly in areas that are threatened or vulnerable to attacks.
The campaign’s local committees organize volunteer activities and field support days, fostering cooperation between institutions and the local community. These efforts assist farmers during the harvest, help protect the agricultural season, and reinforce the farmers' deep-rooted connection to their land and olive trees.
This participation exemplifies the importance of solidarity and partnership among official, security, and community institutions and the farmers themselves. It underscores the necessity of sustained, joint efforts to protect agricultural lands and to encourage landowners to continue cultivating and caring for their property, which serves as a vital source of livelihood and agricultural production. The Ministry of Agriculture reaffirms its commitment to leading and coordinating the national campaign for the olive harvest season, in partnership with various relevant institutions and stakeholders. This involves maintaining a presence in the field, providing support to farmers, and strengthening their resilience—thereby protecting the land and agricultural resources, and preserving the olive tree as a symbol of steadfastness and connection to the land, as well as a vital pillar for food security and the national economy.
