Tubas: October 15, 2026
On Thursday, the local committee for the National Olive Harvest Campaign in Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Governorate carried out its first field activity in Salhab area. More than 50 volunteers and representatives from official and civil society organizations participated, aiming to support farmers, bolster their resilience, and assist them in accessing their lands to harvest their crops.
This initiative is part of a national campaign led by the Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with various national and international institutions. The campaign seeks to unify efforts and field interventions, foster collective action, and provide protection for farmers—particularly in areas where accessing agricultural land during the harvest season presents significant challenges.
The event was held under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Slaimiya, and the Governor of Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley, Mr. Ahmed Asaad. It was organized in partnership with the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC) and the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development.
Participants included representatives from the Directorate of Agriculture, the Governorate, the municipalities of Tubas and Aqaba, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the Applied Research Institute–Jerusalem (ARIJ), the Palestinian Police, Salah Khalaf Center, and the Higher Council for Youth and Sports, alongside numerous volunteers and civil society organizations.
The Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees and the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development provided logistical support for the event—including the provision of ladders, harvesting tarps, and olive-picking rakes—thereby facilitating the harvest process and assisting farmers in the area. This event is part of the national campaign’s broader objective to strengthen local coordination, unify the efforts of institutions and volunteers, and embed the values of mutual aid and social solidarity—all with the aim of bolstering the resilience of farmers, maintaining their connection to their land, and ensuring the continuity of agricultural production.
