The Ministry of Agriculture participated in the opening of the marketing days for grapes and women-led products in Hebron Governorate. Held at Friendship Park in the Old City, the event saw the participation of various official and community institutions and figures. The initiative aims to support local agricultural produce, enhance marketing opportunities, and empower farmers and producers to sustain their production. Ministry Undersecretary Eng. Badr Al-Hawamdeh represented the Minister of Agriculture, Prof. Rizq Slaimiya, at the event, which was also attended by the Director General of Hebron Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Sahar Al-Sha’rawi, along with several directorate staff members. Al-Hawamdeh conveyed the Minister of Agriculture’s greetings to the participants and attendees, emphasizing that "agriculture is about people, land, and water, and supporting these products is a national duty given the hardships faced by Palestinian farmers." He stressed the importance of solidarity and cooperation to protect the land and agricultural produce while bolstering the farmers' resilience. He noted that grapes are a key agricultural product in Hebron Governorate, affirming the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to standing by farmers in the face of attacks by the Israeli occupation and settlers, and to continuing the provision of available support to enable them to keep cultivating their land and producing their crops.
The Ministry emphasizes that supporting agricultural marketing is a fundamental component of the support system for Palestinian farmers. This involves providing suitable spaces to showcase and promote products and connecting farmers and producers with consumers, thereby boosting demand for national products, increasing marketing opportunities, and supporting the income of farmers and producers as well as the continuity of the production process.
The marketing event runs for two days and features the display and sale of grapes alongside a range of local agricultural and women-produced goods. It offers an opportunity to showcase the quality and diversity of Palestinian produce, encourage citizens to buy local products, and support farmers and producers. The event is organized by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hebron Municipality, and Hebron Governorate, with support from Oxfam, ActionAid, and the World Food Programme.
