The Deputy Minister of Agriculture participates in the government delegation's visit to Jenin and affirms the continued support for the agricultural sector and the strengthening of citizens' resilience.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Bader Al-Hawamdeh, participated, on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, in the government delegation's visit to Jenin Governorate. The visit aimed to follow up on the governorate's needs, review the progress of several service and development projects, and listen to the needs of citizens and representatives of local community organizations. He was accompanied on the tour by the Minister's Advisor for Governorate Affairs, Engineer Samir Samara, the Director General of the Jenin Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Basem Hammad, the Director of the Jenin Veterinary Department, Dr. Bassam Abu Aziz, and the Directorate's staff.

The government delegation began its visit with a meeting at Jenin Governorate headquarters with Governor Kamal Abu al-Rub, in the presence of local committees and representatives of community organizations. The meeting addressed the governorate's most pressing needs and priorities. During the meeting, Hawamdeh conveyed the Minister's greetings to those present, emphasizing the Ministry's continued commitment to providing services and support to farmers. He noted that irrigation is one of the most significant challenges facing the agricultural sector in the governorate.

Hawamdeh reviewed the Ministry of Agriculture's key interventions in Jenin, explaining that the value of implemented agricultural projects reached approximately 30 million shekels. He also mentioned the implementation of projects under the MAP program, valued at $4 million, benefiting 75 individuals, and the distribution of $200,000 in aid through a European project. He further stated that the Ministry is currently working on implementing an emergency response program in partnership with the European Union and expanding the number of agricultural offices and departments to facilitate farmers' access to services. He affirmed the Ministry's readiness to cooperate with local authorities and institutions to utilize forest lands for projects that serve the public interest. Al-Hawamdeh concluded his participation with a meeting held at Jenin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended by Minister of National Economy Mohammed Al-Amour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Economy Bashar Al-Saifi, Chamber President Ammar Abu Bakr, and representatives from the agricultural and industrial sectors, as well as farmers. During the meeting, he emphasized that the Ministry has adopted an action plan based on agricultural initiatives to enhance food and water security, focusing on supporting sectors suffering from shortages, particularly the red meat sector, expanding agricultural production and processing, and promoting investment through the MAP project and EU-funded support programs. He also highlighted the expansion of cultivation of economically viable crops, especially grapes, noting that approximately 4,000 dunams have already been planted under this initiative.
