Salimeia discusses with a delegation of farmers from Jericho and the Jordan Valley the needs and ways to enhance support mechanisms for the region.

Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Salimeia, met today at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Ramallah with a delegation of farmers from the Jericho and Jordan Valley governorates. The meeting, which was also attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry, Eng. Bader Hawamdeh, and Director General of the Jericho Governorate Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Ashraf Barakat, addressed the situation of farmers in the region, discussing the growing challenges facing the agricultural sector and mechanisms for government intervention and support.

At the beginning of the meeting, the farmers' representatives provided a detailed explanation of the violations they face, including repeated attacks, land confiscation, and attacks on livestock, resulting in direct economic losses. They emphasized the urgent need to consider their difficult living conditions and strengthen their resilience on their land.

The meeting also discussed ways to improve aid distribution mechanisms and field monitoring, ensuring that interventions reach those who need them fairly and transparently. Furthermore, they discussed enhancing technical and extension coordination and supporting staff working in the relevant ministry directorates.

The meeting concluded with a discussion of the need to strengthen the mechanisms for aid distribution and field monitoring. The meeting addressed the importance of developing veterinary services in the governorate, exploring the possibility of establishing a veterinary laboratory in Jericho. This would contribute to improving laboratory diagnostics, supporting livestock breeders, and maintaining animal health in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Salimieh affirmed the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to continuing its support for farmers in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, and to addressing the challenges they face within the available resources and capabilities. He emphasized that protecting the agricultural sector and strengthening the resilience of farmers is a national priority.
