The Minister of Agriculture and the Municipality of Tarqumiya discuss agricultural needs and green projects to promote agriculture and protect the environment in the town.

Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, met with a delegation from the Tarqumiya Municipal Council, headed by Mayor Ashraf Fatafta, to discuss the town's most pressing agricultural and environmental needs and ways to support development projects that would benefit farmers and enhance the environment.

The meeting addressed the possibility of allocating land for a national park and nature reserve, which would contribute to environmental protection and provide a natural haven for residents of Tarqumiya and neighboring towns.

The delegation also discussed Tarqumiya's needs in the areas of restoring artesian wells, constructing agricultural roads to facilitate farmers' access to their lands and serve the agricultural sector, and implementing afforestation projects in suitable areas to support vegetation cover and preserve agricultural lands.

In a related context, the delegation emphasized the importance of supporting farmers and strengthening their resilience on their land, especially in light of settler attacks that target agricultural lands and impede their access. They stressed the need to provide the necessary support to protect the land and enable farmers to continue their agricultural work and maintain their livelihoods. Minister Slaimiya emphasized the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to cooperating with local authorities and supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and the preservation of natural resources. He also stressed the importance of following up on submitted files in accordance with applicable legal and technical procedures.

For his part, the Mayor of Tarqumiya, Engineer Ashraf Fatafta, expressed his appreciation for the Minister of Agriculture's attention to the town's needs. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the Ministry and the municipality to implement agricultural and environmental projects that serve farmers and residents, enhance their resilience on their land, and contribute to achieving sustainable development in Tarqumiya.
