Jerusalem and Tulkarem Directorates of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), conducted a field visit to Tulkarem Governorate. The visit targeted 16 female livestock farmers from Jerusalem Governorate, aiming to enhance their knowledge of modern farm management and the application of health and safety requirements for dairy products. This initiative falls under the project "Strengthening the Skills and Practices of Livestock Breeders at All Stages of the Animal Value Chain in the West Bank – Palestine," funded by the European Union and implemented by the FAO in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Participants in the visit included Eng. Shrouq Abu Atwan, manager of the Rural Development Department at the Ministry; Eng. Nabeha Samara, Head of the Rural Development Section at the Jerusalem Directorate of Agriculture; Eng. Hanaa Khraisha, Head of the Rural Development Section at the Tulkarm Directorate of Agriculture; and Eng. Marwan Al-Ramini, Head of the Ruminants Section.

The visit included a tour of Candia dairy factory, where participants learned about best practices in dairy production and the application of health and safety requirements. They also visited a model sheep farm, observing the use of milk substitutes, the feeding of sheep with fodder crops such as panicum grass, and the use of plastic flooring to protect newborns. The visit also included a stop at Al-Sham Dairy Factory to learn about dairy production processes.

Jerusalem and Tulkarm Directorates of Agriculture emphasized that the visit was part of an initiative to exchange expertise and empower women working in the livestock sector, enhancing their knowledge of sound farm management and the production of safe, high-quality dairy products. This aligns with the Ministry of Agriculture's strategy to develop the livestock sector, improve production, and enhance the quality of national products.
