Tulkarem Directorate of Agriculture conducted a training workshop titled "Farm Record-Keeping and Its Impact on Improving Farm Profitability." The workshop was attended by 15 beneficiaries from the livestock group in the town of Saida and was held as part of "Improving Extension for Value-Added Agriculture" (EVAP) project—Phase 5—implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The workshop addressed the importance of maintaining and documenting farm records and their role in improving the management of agricultural activities. Participants learned how to record farming operations, inputs, costs, production volumes, sales, and revenues. Such record-keeping helps farmers determine actual production costs, calculate net profit, and make informed agricultural and economic decisions.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of using records to compare farm performance across seasons, identify strengths and weaknesses, improve planning, and enhance resource-use efficiency. Additionally, it covered the organization and updating of records in a manner suited to the specific needs of livestock breeders.
The workshop was conducted by Agricultural Engineer Lara Bdair from the General Directorate of Extension and Rural Development, alongside engineers Maysoun Khader and Hanaa Khreisheh. They presented the training material and demonstrated practical methods for preparing and maintaining farm records, thereby strengthening the farmers' ability to utilize actual data to manage their farms and improve both production and profitability. This workshop is part of the Ministry of Agriculture efforts to develop extension services and enhance farmers' capabilities, thereby contributing to increased production efficiency, improved farm management, and the sustainability of agricultural projects.
