Tubas – April 5, 2026

Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), signed an agricultural support agreement with farmer Saad Bisharat, as part of the MAP2 project.

The project aims to implement a vertical strawberry growing system on four dunams of land, contributing to improved agricultural production efficiency, increased farmer income, and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies that promote optimal use of natural resources and enhance product quality.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmad Al-Fares, Director General of Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture, in the presence of the project coordinator, Eng. Majdi Mustafa, the FAO coordinator, Eng. Muhammad Sawafteh, and the beneficiary farmer, Saad Bisharat.

This project is being implemented within the framework of investment support agreements under the Food and Agriculture Organization  (FAO) initiative, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, and with funding from the governments of Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, and the European Union, in addition to parallel funding from the Italian government. This initiative falls under the project "Promoting Innovative and Sustainable Market-Driven Investments in the Agri-Food Sector in the West Bank."

The project aims to support the sustainable development of food and agricultural systems and enhance investment and employment opportunities in the agricultural sector by enabling farmers to adopt modern production technologies, improve product quality, and increase the efficiency of agricultural marketing.

This intervention is part of the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts, in cooperation with international partners, to support the agricultural sector and strengthen the resilience of farmers in the northern Jordan Valley through the development of modern and sustainable production models.
