Tubas: September 24, 2026
Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Agriculture Directorate held a preparatory meeting today, Thursday, at Tubas Governorate hall to launch the "Olive 2026" national olive-harvesting campaign. It was held under the auspices of Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Governorate, and was attended by the Directorate’s Director General, Engineer Omar Basharat, and the staff, alongside representatives from official and security agencies, local authorities, civil society organizations, and partner entities—including the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC), the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ), and the Palestinian Center for Social and Economic Development.
The meeting addressed field preparations for the olive harvest season and mechanisms to support farmers and meet their needs throughout the season—particularly in areas near "hotspots" and locations facing threats. It also focused on enhancing coordination among various stakeholders to ensure field needs are met and harvest supplies are provided.
Participants also discussed mechanisms for field monitoring and the organization of volunteer teams and Civil Defense participation. These measures aim to assist farmers during the harvest season and ensure readiness to address any needs or emergencies that may arise.
The meeting emphasized the importance of integrating official, security, community, and institutional efforts, as well as unifying operational and monitoring mechanisms. These steps are intended to guarantee farmers' access to their lands, enable them to harvest their crops, enhance the protection of agricultural land, and support farmers in targeted areas.
This meeting is part of the national preparations for the "Olive 2026" campaign, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with various stakeholders. The campaign aims to support farmers, bolster their resilience, protect agricultural lands, and provide the necessary elements for a successful olive harvest season.
