The North Hebron Agriculture Directorate conducted a training workshop titled "Farm Record-Keeping and Its Impact on Improving Farm Profitability" for 15 almond growers from the town of Al-Shuyukh. The training was held at Al-Shuyukh Municipality headquarters,it was part of the "Improving Extension for Value-Added Agriculture" (EVAP) project—Phase 5—funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented by the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.
The workshop addressed the importance of maintaining and documenting farm records and their role in helping farmers monitor and manage their agricultural activities more effectively. This involves recording farming operations, inputs, costs, production volumes, sales, and revenues—data that helps determine actual production costs, calculate net profit, and make informed agricultural and economic decisions.
Emphasis was also placed on using farm records to compare farm performance across seasons, identify strengths and weaknesses, improve planning for the agricultural season, and enhance resource-use efficiency. Additionally, the importance of organizing and continuously updating records to suit the specific needs of almond growers was highlighted.
Agricultural Engineer Majdolin Al-Rajabi conducted the workshop, presenting the training material, detailing its key components, and explaining the practical process of preparing and maintaining farm records. These efforts aim to strengthen the farmers' ability to utilize actual data in managing their farms and improving both production and profitability. This workshop is part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to enhance farmers' capabilities and develop extension services, thereby contributing to increased production efficiency, improved farm management, higher profitability, and the sustainability of agricultural projects.
