Nablus Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), signed an agreement to support agricultural investment in the town of Al-Nasariya. This agreement falls under the Multi-Donor Agricultural Business Program – Phase II (MAP II), which aims to promote market-oriented investments and innovations, contributing to the development of a sustainable agricultural and food system in the West Bank.
The total value of the agreement is approximately 470,907 NIS. It includes the implementation of a project to develop a packing house, which will improve post-harvest processes, enhance the quality of agricultural products, and increase their market competitiveness.
The project also contributes to supporting agricultural value chains, improving the income of farming families, creating job opportunities, and promoting the sustainability of agricultural production in the targeted area.
The agreement was signed in the presence of representatives from the Nablus Directorate of Agriculture and the FAO, as well as the project beneficiaries. The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen farmers' resilience and support sustainable agricultural investments. It emphasizes the importance of developing agricultural infrastructure, particularly in the areas of packaging and marketing, given its pivotal role in improving the quality of agricultural products and enhancing their marketability.
These agreements are being implemented within the framework of the MAP II program, implemented by the FAO in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, with funding from the governments of Denmark, the European Union, Spain, and Switzerland, in addition to parallel funding from the Italian government. The program aims to promote innovative and sustainable market-oriented investments in the agri-food sector in the West Bank.
