Jenin Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Rural Women's Development Society (RWDS), distributed agricultural processing equipment and machinery, including various agricultural production units, to a number of agricultural cooperatives operating in this sector. The distribution was based on the cooperatives' needs and assessments, and aimed to support and empower them, thereby strengthening their resilience.
This activity falls under the program to promote sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, specifically the project "Strengthening Resilience in Women-Led Agricultural Cooperatives through Crisis-Responsive Business Models." The project is implemented by RWDS in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The RWDS also supports the cooperatives' resilience and enhances their resilience. The distribution included Al-Jalama Women's Cooperative Society, Kafr Dan Cooperative Society for Agriculture and Irrigation, Al-Najda Charitable Society, Arabuna Women's Charitable Society, Burqin Women's Charitable Society, Mithlon Women's Club, Beit Qad North Women's Development Society, Deir Ghazaleh Women's Center Society, Deir Abu Dhaif Society, Anza Women's Club Society, and Al-Sharqiya Women's Center Society. A total of 375 women benefited, receiving specialized equipment and devices tailored to their pre-identified needs and the specific nature of each society's work.
The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that this initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of agricultural cooperatives and enhance their productivity, thereby improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries, particularly in rural areas.
The Ministry notes that agricultural cooperatives, especially those led by women, play a vital role in creating job opportunities and supporting the local economy. They constitute a primary source of income for many families, thus bolstering their resilience and economic and social stability.
