Hebron Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Sharek Youth Center, conducted a specialized awareness lecture on the safe use of pesticides in the Jabal Jawhar area. Thirty-two women participated in the lecture, which was part of ongoing efforts to promote health and environmental awareness within the local community.
The lecture covered several key topics, most notably the identification of different types of pesticides and their correct application methods, how to read the instructions accompanying the pesticide, and the dangers of misuse of pesticides to human and animal health and the environment.
The importance of adhering to the pre-harvest safety period and the necessity of wearing personal protective equipment during spraying was emphasized, in addition to raising awareness about safe pesticide storage methods, keeping pesticides out of the reach of children.
The meeting included an interactive discussion with the participants, during which their questions were answered and practical guidance was provided to help reduce the indiscriminate use of pesticides and encourage the adoption of safe and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. The implementation of this lecture comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to support and empower women, and to enhance their role in adopting sound agricultural practices, which contributes to protecting public health and preserving the environment.
