Ministry of Agriculture: Jerusalem Agriculture and FAO sign an agreement to support agricultural investment for the Shrouq Association in Al-Eizariya within the (MAP II) program with a total value of (323,946) thousand shekels

Jerusalem Directorate of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), signed an agreement to support agricultural investment in the town of Al-Eizariya. This agreement falls under the Multi-Donor Agricultural Business Program – Phase II (MAP II), which aims to promote market-oriented investments and innovations, contributing to the development of a sustainable agricultural and food system in the West Bank.

The total value of the agreement is approximately 323,946 NIS. It includes the implementation of a project to develop a food processing unit for the benefit of the Shuruq Women's Charitable Association. This project will strengthen agricultural value chains and increase the added value of local food products.

The project will also contribute to supporting employment opportunities, empowering women, improving family incomes, and enhancing the sustainability of food production in the targeted area.

The agreement was signed in the presence of representatives from Jerusalem Directorate of Agriculture, the FAO, and representatives of the beneficiary association.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen the resilience of women's institutions and support sustainable production projects, particularly in areas facing developmental challenges. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of investing in food processing, given its role in bolstering the local economy and achieving food security.

These agreements are being implemented within the framework of the MAP II program, implemented by the FAO in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, with funding from the governments of Denmark, the European Union, Spain, and Switzerland, in addition to parallel funding from the Italian government. The program aims to promote innovative and sustainable market-oriented investments in the agri-food sector in the West Bank.
