⭕ Strengthening farmers' resilience and protecting their lands.
⭕ Unifying the efforts of institutions and field teams to serve farmers.
Ramallah: September 6, 2026
Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Slaimiya, launched preparations for the 2026 olive harvest campaign, in partnership with several national and international institutions. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support farmers, strengthen their resilience, and protect their lands, especially given the challenges facing the agricultural season and the attacks to which farmers and their lands are subjected.
This came during a coordination meeting held by the Ministry of Agriculture with the participation of representatives from partner institutions and organizations. The meeting aimed to ensure early preparation for the olive harvest season and to coordinate efforts and field interventions, thereby guaranteeing organized work and directing resources toward the areas and farmers most in need of support during the harvest period.
Slaimiya emphasized the importance of partnership and integration between the Ministry of Agriculture and various national and international institutions, noting that the olive harvest season represents a significant national, economic, and social milestone. He stressed that protecting this season and supporting farmers in accessing their lands and harvesting their crops requires concerted efforts and unified field interventions.
The meeting discussed operational mechanisms for the campaign, adopting a decentralized approach to its implementation. This involves forming a committee in each town to manage the campaign, unify efforts, and ensure collective action, thus guaranteeing rapid completion and community support. Coordination among participating teams, organizing volunteers and supporting entities, identifying target areas and priorities, and strengthening communication with agricultural directorates and farmers were also discussed. This aims to ensure the campaign's organized and effective implementation across all governorates.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture are among those participating in the preparations. The Wall Resistance Commission, the Civil Defense Authority, the Red Crescent, the Supreme Council for Youth, representatives of the governors, the Popular Resistance Committees, the security services, the Palestinian Civil Defense, agricultural and civil institutions, unions and associations, the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, along with a number of international institutions and partner entities, will continue coordination meetings during the coming period to complete the campaign program and determine the interventions and targeted areas.
