Under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, and in the presence of the Mayor of Yatta, Mr. Muhammad Omar Abu Subha, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Bader Al-Hawamdeh, signed an agreement with Al-Asili Contracting Company, valued at approximately 126,000 shekels, for the supply and installation of blood treatment unit and the completion of the necessary technical preparations for the operation of Yatta Municipal Slaughterhouse.
The agreement is part of the project to construct Yatta Municipal Slaughterhouse and upgrade As-Samu' station and laboratory for breed improvement, funded by the European Union, with a total value of approximately 8 million shekels. This project aims to develop the infrastructure of the livestock sector and improve animal health and food safety services in the southern West Bank. Minister of Agriculture Professor Riziq Slaimiya affirmed that the Ministry continues to complete its strategic projects aimed at developing agricultural and veterinary infrastructure. He noted that this agreement addresses the final technical requirements necessary for operating the slaughterhouse, ensuring its entry into service according to the highest health and environmental standards.
Slaimiya added that the operation of Yatta municipal slaughterhouse will represent a qualitative leap in livestock slaughtering and veterinary oversight services. It will contribute to strengthening the food safety system, protecting public health, and supporting livestock breeders, in addition to providing a modern facility serving Hebron Governorate and neighboring governorates.
For his part, Yatta Mayor Muhammad Omar Abu Subha emphasized that completing the slaughterhouse's equipment represents a significant step towards its full operation. He praised the partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, which contributed to the completion of this vital project, providing advanced services to citizens and regulating slaughtering operations according to health and legal principles.
The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in the Minister's office, was attended by the Director General of Extension, Eng. Salah Al-Baba, and a representative of Al-Asili Company, the project's implementing company.
