On Sunday, the Ministry of Agriculture—through its directorates and veterinary service departments in the governorates of Jenin, Jericho and Jordan Valley, Bethlehem, Hebron, Qalqilya, and Ramallah & Al-Bireh—conducted veterinary vaccination campaigns targeting the livestock of 225 breeders. A total of 11,198 doses were administered, covering vaccinations against Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Brucellosis, Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), and sheep pox.
In Jenin Governorate, vaccinations included 755 doses against FMD for sheep, 50 doses against sheep pox, 200 doses against PPR, and 50 doses against Brucellosis, benefiting 36 farmers. In Jericho and the Jordan Valley, the Veterinary Services Department administered 1,285 doses against FMD for sheep and 75 doses against Brucellosis, benefiting 24 farmers. In Bethlehem Governorate, 885 doses of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine and 150 doses of brucellosis vaccine were administered to sheep in the Kisan area, benefiting 33 livestock breeders. Additionally, 250 doses against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and 150 doses against sheep pox were administered at the Tuqu’ and Handasa sites, benefiting three breeders.
In Hebron Governorate, the Veterinary Services and Animal Health Department (South Hebron/Dura) administered 754 doses of FMD vaccine and 50 doses of brucellosis vaccine to sheep in Deir Samit area, benefiting 17 breeders, alongside 650 doses against PPR and sheep pox benefiting five breeders. Furthermore, 494 female replacement sheep were vaccinated against brucellosis in Al-Ma’bar Street, Al-Madaris, Beit Ula Street, and Al-Maghfar areas of Tarqumiya town, as well as Khallat Atmizi and Khallat Ibrahim areas of Idhna town, benefiting 60 breeders; an additional 100 head of livestock were vaccinated against PPR in Hebron area, benefiting two farmers.
Qalqilya Veterinary Department administered 100 doses in Azzun ‘Atma area, benefiting two breeders, while Ramallah and Al-Bireh Veterinary Department’s campaign in Shuqba included the administration of 5,000 doses against FMD, benefiting 40 farmers, and 200 doses against brucellosis, benefiting three farmers. These campaigns are part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s program for preventive vaccination, aimed at protecting livestock from epidemic and infectious diseases, curbing their spread, and enhancing herd health and safety. These efforts help safeguard livestock production and breeders' sources of income while supporting food security.
