The Ministry of Agriculture—represented by its Veterinary Services and Animal Health departments—continued implementing preventive livestock vaccination campaigns across several governorates. Veterinary teams administered a total of 2,350 vaccine doses across five veterinary districts and zones. These efforts are part of the Ministry's ongoing work to prevent animal diseases, protect livestock and farmers' assets, and enhance herd health and the sustainability of animal production.
In Jenin Governorate, the Veterinary Department vaccinated 300 head of livestock against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), 318 sheep against Foot-and-Mouth Disease, and 25 head against Brucellosis; 17 livestock breeders benefited from the campaign. In the central Hebron area, 150 head of female replacement livestock were vaccinated against brucellosis, and 320 sheep were vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Wadi al-Baqar and Jabal Jawhar areas, benefiting 34 livestock owners. Additionally, 150 sheep were vaccinated against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in the town of Idhna, benefiting three farmers. In the Yatta area, 150 cattle were vaccinated against FMD, benefiting two farmers.
In Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate, the Veterinary Department conducted a vaccination campaign in Al-Jiftlik area, covering 545 sheep against FMD and 50 head against brucellosis, benefiting 31 farmers.
The Veterinary Services and Animal Health Department for the South Hebron/Dura area also carried out a vaccination campaign in the city of Dura, administering 50 doses against brucellosis and 242 doses against FMD to sheep—benefiting 11 livestock owners—alongside administering 50 doses against sheep pox to a livestock owner in the city.
Through its veterinary teams across various governorates and veterinary districts, the Ministry of Agriculture continues to implement preventive vaccination programs and monitor the health status of livestock. These efforts contribute to curbing the spread of diseases, protecting herd health, minimizing potential losses for livestock owners, and bolstering animal production and food security.
